Liquor stores often focus on spirits and wine as the primary revenue drivers—but smart stores know that the real profit heroes are accessories.
Dehydrated cocktail garnishes are a perfect example. Lightweight, shelf-stable, and visually appealing, they offer excellent margins while taking up minimal space. A small pegged merchandising display of citrus wheels or cocktail cherries can deliver the same profitability as an entire case of mid-tier wine.

Garnishes also encourage trade-up behavior. A customer buying tequila for margaritas is far more likely to add a lime garnish or flavored rimming salt when it’s merchandised right besides the bottle. These small additions can increase average transaction values with almost no extra effort.
Another benefit: they’re easy to gift. Liquor store customers frequently add garnishes to host gifts, housewarming presents, and party baskets—especially during spring entertaining season.
If you’re not treating garnishes as a core category, you’re leaving profit on the shelf.
Tiny footprint + high perceived value = outsized ROI.
